KARACHI: Water supply of 630 million gallons was suspended in various parts of the city as a pipeline at Dhabeji and Gharo pumping station burst.
The 72 inch diameter pipeline burst due to a power breakdown, building up pressure causing the pipeline to be damaged, as per the Karachi Water and Sewage Board.
Neighboring areas around the pipeline were submerged. Karachi mainly relies on Keenjhar lake, and Hub dam where water is sourced to pumping stations.
The same pumping station had an identical pipeline burst in June, causing similar shortages.
