QUETTA: Senate’s recently elected chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has on Sunday said that the allegations of him being backed by the ‘establishment’ had no truth to them.
Talking to media in Quetta, Sanjrani said that the senators from various parties and regions of the country had come together for voting him and that was the only reason he was there.
He went on to thank Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bezinjo and a group of six independent senators who he believed were instrumental in getting him elected to the position.
Sanjrani vowed to work for the betterment of Balochistan, in all the departments where the province lagged behind.
Sanjrani had been elected to chairmanship of the Upper House of Parliament after beatingthe ruling coalition led by Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) amid allegations of massive horse-trading and behind-the-scenes arm-twisting by what National Party’s (NP) Hasil Bezinjo described by pointing to his shoulders during a speech in Senate after the election.
