Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Bashir Memon on Wednesday took notice of the sharp rupee depreciation against the US dollar.
A crackdown on the transfer of foreign exchange reserves through hundi and hawala had been initiated on the directives of the DG.
According to sources, teams had been formed in all four provinces under investigation officers to conduct inquiries.
Meanwhile, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) spokesperson Abid Qamar told a foreign news agency that the market was aware about the overall macroeconomic conditions and based on those conditions, they were having their own expectations about the exchange rate, so that was driving (the rupee valuations) currently.”
