The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over the issue of delimitation of constituencies ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Justice Shahid Waheed heard the application filed by Narowal resident Javed Kohlo, in which he challenged the delimitation of his constituency. The applicant objected to the delimitation and pointed out that constituencies have been constituted prior to the elections on political grounds. The applicant’s lawyer requested the court to declare current delimitation on political grounds null and void.
The court then issued a notice to the ECP and sought an immediate reply.
Earlier this month, the ECP had rejected 21 objections raised on the latest changes in the constituencies and has only ordered to readjust two provincial assembly seats.
